“Where the Presidential candidates stand on the issue of federal support for research has implications that extend far beyond the laboratory or the campus and reach into the pocketbook of every American,” said a letter recently sent from TSC to presidential candidate Barack Obama. The letter, signed by the presidents of Purdue University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Kentucky and the University of Southern California, asked the candidates to consider 10 important questions about their research priorities and their commitment to expanding the federal government’s support for basic research
