WASHINGTON – The Science Coalition (TSC) today released a statement following the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation hearing on Dr. Eric Lander’s nomination to be Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP):
“Dr. Lander is a research heavyweight whose experience in Washington will be key to effectively weaving science and technology into this administration’s policy decisions,” said TSC President John Latini. “With his scientific and political know-how, including deep ties to TSC member institutions Harvard and MIT, Dr. Lander is readily equipped to join President Biden’s cabinet and tackle critical issues like ending the COVID-19 pandemic, American research competitiveness, and climate change.
“Dr. Lander knows firsthand the value of federally funded fundamental research conducted at our universities that addresses pressing problems, lays the groundwork for future discoveries, and sparks economic growth. We urge the Committee to advance his nomination to the full Senate without delay.”
