WASHINGTON – The Science Coalition (TSC) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s fiscal year (FY) 2024 discretionary request:
“Federally funded research is an essential component to our nation’s competitive edge, and as other countries ramp up their research spending, it is more important than ever for the United States to keep pace,” said TSC President Laura Kolton. “That is why we are pleased President Biden’s budget request prioritizes robust, sustained investment for key research programs. As he noted in his State of the Union address, a strong research pipeline, nurtured by bipartisan legislation like the CHIPS and Science Act, pays dividends years down the line – from shoring up our supply chains to creating jobs that provide for an increasingly diverse workforce. We look forward to working with Congress to ensure final appropriations bills for FY24 match that promise.”
