The Science Coalition Urges Congress to Keep Government Open, Fund Research
Coalition recommits dedication to advancing federally funded research at the higher education level for the enhancement of America’s scientific standing globally.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, The Science Coalition’s President Dr. Jill Pentimonti released the following statement regarding the threat of a government shutdown:
“Since our establishment in 1994, The Science Coalition has consistently advocated for sustained federal investment in fundamental scientific research. This investment drives American competitiveness, stimulates economic growth, and fosters innovation. A government shutdown would inhibit vital research projects, stifle collaboration, and jeopardize the future of groundbreaking discoveries.
“We call upon Congress to fulfill its responsibility to ensure the uninterrupted flow of funding to research institutions across the country and uphold its commitment to advancing science for the betterment of all,” Pentimonti continued. “Now more than ever, as we confront complex challenges ranging from public health crises to maintaining competitiveness on the world stage, we must support scientific progress.”
