Science Coalition Statement on Tumultuous FY2025 Congressional Appropriations Process
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Science Coalition (TSC) Executive Director Tyler Roberts issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate failed to advance Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 appropriations funding for fundamental scientific research ahead of the Congressional August recess period:
“America’s leading college and university research institutions remain deeply concerned by the turbulent, uncertain, and partisan Congressional appropriations process.
“Our researchers rely on strong, steady, and predictable federal funding in order to deliver breakthrough discoveries that drive economic growth, forge new businesses, create jobs, and improve Americans’ quality of life. Science cannot afford another round of appropriations stopgaps and half measures.”
“Maintaining the federal government’s robust investments in scientific research remains a top bipartisan priority. Congress must complete the FY25 appropriations process when it reconvenes in September. America’s scientific leadership and economic competitiveness depend on it.”
